With its test voltage settings from 50 V to 1000 V (in 10 V steps), the device is perfect for diagnosing the electrical, control, communication and telecommunications objects.

Features

Test voltage settings of 500 V or 1000 V perfectly match the requirements for assessing the protection of power supply lines but also of floors and walls in places where the insulation of the stand was used as a means of protection against electric shock – PRS-1 probe (optional accessory) is very useful for this purpose.

The dedicated UNI-Schuko adapter enables user to configure the tested cable pairs – this ensures quick and efficient inspection of the insulation resistance from the side of sockets.

With MIC-30 meter you can check whether an object is under voltage (measuring range up to 600 V), both in overhead and cable networks (measuring category of the device: CAT IV 600 V). You can verify the continuity of cables, e.g. PE connections and equipotential bonding – using the current of at least 200 mA, according to EN 61557-4. You can check the capacity of the start-up capacitors in household appliances and drives of any type (measuring range up to 10 µF). With the third socket (GUARD), you can verify the amount of leakage current, which may “escape” through faulty or contaminated insulation.

Application

Insulation resistance meter with adjustable testing voltage - up to 5 kV. It is a great tool for assessing the condition of electrical insulation in residential buildings, industry, railways and other facilities of general use. Due to its parameters - excellent performance, low power consumption from batteries, the option of charging them during measurements, convenience of use and a  high ingress protection level - it is perfect for maintenance teams, testing motors, cables, street lighting or at the construction and maintenance of  photovoltaic systems. The meter may be recommended to installers working on telecommunications and electric power systems that require the inspection of the insulation sleeve/sheath resistance (UN ≤ 30 kV) to the voltage of 5 kV applied for 5 minutes.

Features

The meter may be used to measure the insulation resistance using the adjustable test voltage up to 5000 V. When testing the cables, it automatically discharges their load at the moment of completing the measurement.

MIC-5001 allows the user to determine the insulation resistance by applying linearly increasing voltage with the slope of 1 kV/s, according to standard EEE Std 95TM-2002. This functionality is called RampTest.

In contrast the maximum test voltage, this slow and uniform method of applying test voltage protects the insulation against sudden “electrical stress”. This process may reveal defects that cannot be observed in classic RISO resistance measurement. If the tested insulation is weakened or defective, RampTest will enable the user to determine its maximum withstand voltage. In addition, this functionality is particularly useful in testing rotating machines or surge arresters.

The meter has a built-in voltmeter of AC and DC voltages in the range of up to 750 V. Extensive memory allows the device to record and send to a computer nearly 12,000 measurement results.

Insulation resistance measurements: go premium

Sonel MIC-5005 insulation resistance meter constitute a reliable tool for measuring insulation resistance up to 15 TΩ. The maximum measurement current is 1.2 mA or 3mA, which guarantees charging a high capacity object in a short time. Each measurement, whether the programmed time expires or is manually interrupted, ends with the meter discharging the object. The device has unique algorithms that allow it to recognise the nature of the voltage present on the object, thanks to which the instrument can determine whether the voltage is the mains voltage - in which case the measurement will not be carried out - or whether it is the voltage generated by an electromagnetic field - in which case the measurement will be carried out. This makes it possible to carry out measurements in the presence of very strong electromagnetic fields where this was previously not feasible.

Application

MIC-5050 meter is designed to measure the insulation resistance of electro-power objects, i.e. single- and multi-core cables, transformers, motors and generators, capacitors, switches and other devices installed in power stations. Furthermore, it is dedicated for measurements in areas with very high electromagnetic disturbances, e.g. electrical substations with 765 kV voltage or higher.

Capabilities

Highly efficient HV inverter, with test voltage of 5 kV and current of 6 mA, suitable for measuring the insulation resistance up to 20 TΩ. Achieving such a result makes these meters unrivalled devices. Three-wire resistance measurement, performed using a "GUARD" wire, eliminates surface leakage currents caused by contaminated insulation, thereby increasing the reliability of obtained results.

The meter measures temperature of tested object, which is necessary to determine the temperature correction factor for RISO. In addition, it indicates the absorption coefficient (DAR - Dielectric Absorption Ratio), Polarization Index (PI) and the value of Dielectric Discharge (DD). The device allows user to assess the condition of the insulation, by applying the test voltage incrementally in steps (SV). This solution ensures that a dielectric in good condition will provide the same results, regardless of the applied voltage. Deviations in obtained resistance values of approx. 25%, observed on the chart in the individual steps, may indicate the potential insulation defects.

Facing the challenge

When building medium- and large-scale PV farms, designers, guided by the need to ensure the highest possible energy yield and thus the maximum return on investment, select inverters with a voltage of 1500 V DC / 800 V AC. Testing of such a system must address both the AC and DC sides of the PV system. Testing of all AC circuits must be performed in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60364-6.

The output voltage of 800 V AC, which in real conditions often exceeds this value, poses a huge problem for contractors and servicing companies, since for such high voltages there are no devices on the market to check the installation for compliance with the conditions of electric shock protection in terms of measuring the impedance of the short circuit loop.

Reaching the areas unattainable to others

In direct vicinity of transformers or in transformer stations, where the circuits are equipped with a high current protection (fuse-links with the rating of several hundred amperes, motor circuit breakers), fault currents may reach several hundreds of kilo-amps. Measurement of fault loop impedance in such networks requires a high-current meter, which is capable of measuring ZS values at the level of single milliohms. Our patented technical solution, which uses components not available in the commercial offer (unique fault resistor), enables us to offer the meter with perfect performance in such demanding conditions

Measurements without compromise

Commercially available fault loop impedance meters perform the measurements asymmetrically, i.e. using half-wave current. This solution introduces the transitional constant and DC constant, which does not always result in a linear behaviour of the transformer during the tests. This in turn, affects the accuracy of the results.

MZC-330S high-current meter applies symmetrical current for measurements, which means that they use the full wave - thanks to the advanced design of the measuring system and fault circuit.

Applications

The instrument is used for measurements in networks with the following rated voltage:

  • up to 750 V, where the prospective fault current may reach 95,8 kA, as measured according to EN 61557.

Testing the insulation with a voltage of 2.5 kV

The unique feature of the meter is the option of measuring the insulation resistance with a voltage of 2500 V. Moreover, with AutoISO-2500 adapter, the user may check RISO of 3-, 4- or 5-wire conductors and cables.

The device has a built-in timer. It may be used to set three different periods for measurements and result read-outs (in the range of 1...600 s). It also automatically calculates two absorption coefficients.

In order to ensure safety of the user, after the measurement completion or interruption, the device automatically unloads the tested object.

    Underground detectives

    The LKZ locator set consists of a LKN transmitter and LKD detector. It allows for location, identification and tracking of the route of objects buried in the ground. It allows to trace:

    • power cords and cables, control cables, telecommunications cables,
    • underground elements of lightning protection systems, cathodic protection systems,
    • water and sewage systems,
    • fuel transmission systems (pipelines, gas pipelines)

    LKN-2500 transmitter injects a locating signal into an underground object. LKD-2500 detector placed along the object traces this signal along the object. Determination of the object’s route is possible based on observation of compass readings and the level of the detected signal.

    The system has the ability to trace cables and record routes via the mobile application. Such files can be exported and shared with other users – including those who do not have the LKN-2500 / LKD-2500 device.
    The system is capable of operating in passive mode (without the use of the LKN-2500 transmitter) and active mode (with the use of the LKN-2500 transmitter). The active mode allows to introduce the signal in three different methods:
